March’s data paints a picture of growing market momentum as we move into spring.
Following a slightly more cautious February, March saw improvement across most metrics, giving us cause for optimism.
Perhaps the most eye-catching figure is the surge in average order value, which jumped from £3,688 in February to £5,990 in March – a remarkable 62.5% increase.
This may stem from an increase in investments in larger installations or higher-spec products, or it could also indicate that previously delayed work is now being actioned.
With national consumer confidence indexes reflecting a more settled outlook, homeowners are slowly regaining their assurance to invest more.
Average leads also increased by almost 10%, from 104.5 in February to 114.7 in March, further offering proof that homeowners are re-engaging with the market.
Factors such as the improved weather, increased property market activity, and a desire to lock in projects ahead of the financial year-end could all be contributing influences, but ultimately this rise shows that home improvement appetites remain healthy.
Sales figures back this up, with a rise from 47.6 in February to 52.5 in March – a 10.3% uplift. It’s encouraging to see that this activity is translating into completed deals, especially in a climate where interest rates remain high at 4.5%, and inflation is still exerting pressure on household budgets.
Conversion rates also nudged up slightly from 39.4% to 39.6%.
While this movement is small, it is a sign of renewed buyer confidence – people are not only enquiring but also committing.
That said, this is still below January’s rate of 40.5%, suggesting that caution hasn’t fully lifted.
Overall, March gives us plenty of positives to work with.
Demand is growing, buyers are slowly gaining confidence, and the value of orders has shot up significantly.
These are strong indicators that the market is responding well as we approach peak season.
