The inaugural Glazing Industry Innovation Roundtable was held on Tuesday 10 October 2023 and brought together industry leaders from across the supply chain to discuss innovation in the window, door and glazing sector.
Elton Boocock, of Business Pilot and Simon Monks of VBH GB Ltd, were joined by Ryan Breslin of Cherwell Windows, Ryan Schofield of Thames Valley Windows and Jay Patel from London-based fabricator, Everglade Windows.
Marc Henson, of Kubu Smart Security (who collaborate on a smart hardware range with VBH GB Ltd) was also present, alongside Darren Pusey of Winmac UK machinery and Greg Beachim of First Degree Systems / Cyncly.
The event was chaired by Nathan Bushell of Lasco PR & Marketing and Sophie Stevens from Total Installer & Total Fabricator magazines was also present.
Digital innovation in the glass and glazing industry was the focus for the discussion, which was structure around these key questions:
After a lively discussion, there were some key highlights from the day. The first, which was agreed by everyone present, was that as an industry we need to collaborate and be more open in order to drive innovation and have more seamless integration.
This ultimately leads to improved user experience and it was agreed that if you are not adding value to the consumer, or the installer, it may be that you are innovating for innovation’s sake.
The third – education. For the industry, for the consumer, educating everyone on the products of innovation is how we drive uptake and change mindsets.
