Rakeem Porter-Young, Director at Signature Home Improvements talks about why he upgraded from using spreadsheets & shared folders to Business Pilot.

The Problem

Cost initially put Rakeem Porter-Young off signing up for Business Pilot. As a young company in 2019, Signature Home Improvements‘ operations worked off a system of very elaborate spreadsheets and shared folders. And in those early days, that was enough.

The business grew very quickly and it got to the point where Rakeem and the team were over-run with spreadsheets and scraps of paper.

But after looking at available CRM software, the team quickly realised that the generic systems out there were either too focussed on sales or too focussed on operations.

The solution was Business Pilot. And Rakeem knew that Business Pilot was going to be the one for Signature Home Improvements pretty much on the first demo, because he could see that it has come from a place of window company knowledge.

The implementation of the system was another benefit. The set-up and initial training with Rebecca went smoothly and everything was done when it was supposed to be.

“Business Pilot has lots of features, but my favourite is what it offers at its core, which is the contact/lead/contract system. This allows anyone with access to Business Pilot to pick up any of the phones, take a call from a customer, and within like a few taps be up to speed on what’s going on with that customer.

“Before Business Pilot, if someone rang up, and the person answering didn’t have the information at their fingertips, then we’d have to call them back. This just slows the whole window installation process down.

“What could be a very simple question could easily turn into several internal emails and calls, before calling the customer back. Now, that phone call is answered and dealt with immediately.”

The Impact

Rakeem has seen a clear return on investment from Business Pilot and although there is a cost involved in the subscription, he sees the real value in using the system in terms of time saved.

“The value that it brings to us is so high, that there will be no other option. If you were going to cut something, it couldn’t be that.

“We could have kept doing what we were doing, absolutely. But it would have required a lot more people hours to get there and a lot more frustration. So if we can cut that out, that’s great. So I see it as good value for money most definitely. And that’s why we’re still here, very, very happy.”
